Finito!

I finally finished the Peace Shawl. Triangular shawls are so enjoyable at the beginning. Rows just fly by one after the other and then you get to the point where the rows are getting so long that you think that you will be working on it until the day you die you don’t think it will ever end. I had 6 rows left before working the edge and I thought I’d have that done in no time at all. Thing is those 6 rows were close to 1,300 stitches. I should have never figured the stitch count! The knitting started to become drudgery I tell you. But I persevered and now I have this beautiful shawl. I just love Noro, the colors are always so beautiful. Now if they could just do something about those cursed knots!

Here is a little taste of what I have been doing since I finished my shawl. Other than working on Icarus, I have been doing a little spinning. Here is the Pygora roving I bought Friday all spun up. It is about fingering weight and I am going to do a lacy little scarf with it.

I also finally washed the Jacob fleece that has been sitting on the screened in porch for the past two years. I may just miss it sitting out there staring at me. It had almost become a fixture or another member of the family!

I’ve tried a few different ways of washing fleece. I just tried a new way. It is a little mixture of different methods that I’ve read about. How I did it is located in a tab at the top of the page. This new found to me way has given me better results than the previous ways I have done it.

Your shawl is gorgeous. It’s much prettier than I imagined it would be. I love the
colors and they will look wonderful on you as does everything. The roving turned
out to be a beautiful color of green.

The shawl is lovely – those edgings *DO* go on forever, don’t they? Now you’ll just have to spin Jacob and knit it into something you can cuddle up with ;)

Hi there. I came across your site while surfing the net, and was delighted to see the peace shaw! I am the guy who designed the pattern. Yours is lovely in the Noro. Sorry about those last few rows. When I was knitting it I felt the same way…….
